FAQ
  • Can anyone apply for residency at the Annie Maxim House?
No, application for residency at the Annie Maxim House is restricted to residents from Rochester, Acushnet, Freetown, Lakeville, Marion, Mattapoisett, Middleboro and Wareham Massachusetts who meet the RESIDENT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA.
  • Is the Annie Maxim House an assisted living facility?
No. The Annie Maxim House does not provide assisted living services. Residents of the Annie Maxim House must meet requirements for independent living as established by the Board of Directors, with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with the AMH Reasonable Accommodation Policy (see Services). Those requiring additional help will be responsible for and required to engage a personal care attendant or other appropriate services themselves as deemed necessary by the Annie Maxim House.
  • Are meals provided by the Annie Maxim House?
Monday through Thursday delicious dinners are provided by our chef in the Dining Room. On Fridays, lunch is provided. This is to encourage residents to engage one another in socialization, to build friendships and provide a sense of community within the Annie Maxim residences. Individuals are required to provide their own breakfasts, lunches and dinners during weekdays when meals are not provided by AMH, and all their own meals on weekends. Transportation is available to purchase groceries at a local market. Each apartment unit has a fully equipped kitchen for meal preparation.
  • Does the Annie Maxim House have laundry facilities?
Yes, residents may use our washers and dryers to do their laundry. If a resident requires help with laundry staff are available to assist.
  • May I schedule a tour of the Annie Maxim House?
The residences at Annie Maxim House are private homes. We honor the privacy of our guests and therefore do not provide tours. If an applicant is accepted to the AMH, at the appropriate time we will schedule a tour of the apartment to be assigned to that individual. Please see our facilities page for a photo tour of our apartments, common areas and outdoor areas.
  • Does the AMH provide housekeeping for its residents?
George and Annie specified that all residents maintain their homes in a tidy manner. Because the AMH is a congregate living community, management requires all residents to maintain a standard of cleanliness in each apartment. To ensure that all residences are clean and tidy, we uphold a Standards of Cleanliness Policy (see Services). Residents may request housekeeping services if needed. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, housekeeping will be provided on a bi-weekly basis. AMH reserves the right to perform apartment housekeeping services at the discretion of the Executive Director as needed to protect the health and safety of all of our residents and staff. Deep cleaning tasks are performed on a cycle. AMH cleans resident showers every three months as needed. Every six months, AMH cleans windows, showers and light fixtures. Additionally, on a yearly basis, AMH oils cabinets, wipes down walls, washes carpets and curtains, cleans windows, ceiling fans and light fixtures. The AMH Resident Handbook provides further details regarding our Housekeeping Policy.
